ABOUT

Cyr Beckley was born and raised on both the salty stretches of the Southern California coast and in the wholesome solitude of upstate New York. With a natural appreciation for visual beauty, Cyr took her first darkroom photography class with a thrifted  Canon AE-1 at the age of 16. She continued her practice in photography at the University of California, Santa Cruz with an emphasis on Documentary Photography.

Her passion for social justice took her to New York City where she interned for The Indypendent Newspaper in 2007. After graduation, Cyr landed in Bend, Oregon and found herself at home at a studio/gallery space downtown called The Poethouse, where she spent late nights shooting film, making lifelong friends, and exploring the fine art side of photography.

Yearning for city life, in 2011 Cyr booked a ticket to New York City where she promptly landed a coveted role at Annie Leibovitz Studio. From working in Leibovitz’ prized film archive to location scouting for global campaigns, Cyr acquired a deep understanding for the critical process of Creative Direction, and an unwavering ability to uncover the true beauty of every subject.

After her time in NYC, Cyr relocated to Bend, Oregon for the region’s stunning natural beauty, slower pace of life, and the inspiring energy of local artists and creators. The Central Oregon community is bar none, and for that reason alone, Cyr and her family have their roots firmly planted in the high desert.
